The Gherkin
Last Sunday I was lucky enough to see London’s famous pickle from the inside. After 6 hours of queueing in heavy rain I entered the Gherkin… I was welcomed by few security guards…. the whole procedure made me feel like at the airport. My bag was scanned, belt taken off along with other stuff that cannot be walked through security gate… everything in a rush…. what else could I expect?…. 30 people every 10 minutes or so… and there were about 3000 people queueing for hours! ok I was let in and taken to the super fast elevator… ;) I was on the 39th floor within few seconds!…well there is not much else to say because I was given only 7 minutes to enjoy interior. Everything in super rush… camera on… click click… OK time to go back. It was not good enough for me…. a student of architecture…. there was not much to explore, not enough to inspire but yet good enough to love! View was fantastic (even though it was raining heavily all the time), skylight on the top truly magical. It was definitely something to remember. Have a look at few pictures I managed to take…. hopefully you will feel a bit of what I felt ;)
